Flash is a multimedia software platform that became one of the most widely used environments for vector animation, interactive web content, browser games, and streaming media. Evolving from FutureWave through Macromedia and later Adobe, it played a major role in web-based creative and game development before being retired as open web standards such as HTML5, WebGL, and WebAssembly became the preferred alternatives.
