Description

Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon for Nintendo 3DS represent a structural and thematic shift in the long-running RPG series. They introduce the Alola region, unsurprisingly inspired by Hawaii, and replace traditional gym battles with island trials, emphasising narrative integration and environmental diversity. Sun and Moon explore identity, migration, and ecological balance, positioning the player within a more socially conscious and character-driven storyline.

Gameplay has streamlined progression and introduces quality-of-life improvements, such as visible stat changes and simplified HM usage. The games also feature regional variants of existing Pokémon, expanded character customisation, and a more cinematic presentation style. As seventh generation entries, they mark a transitional phase between classic handheld design and the more open-ended structure that would define series’ later titles.
