Description
The Order: 1886 is a cinematic third-person action-adventure cover shooter (quite the specific genre set!). Set in an alternate-history Victorian London, the game follows an elite group of knights known as The Order, who battle supernatural creatures using advanced steampunk-inspired technology. Players take on the role of Sir Galahad as he uncovers a conspiracy that threatens the realm. At the PS4 launch it provided stunning visuals and immersive atmosphere.
The game emphasises storytelling and world-building, though it received mixed reviews for its short length and limited gameplay. I particularly found it quite exhausting with long story-telling sequences, far too many QT events, and relatively short levels. Compared with a similarly visually rich game like Ryse on the Xbox One it felt backward and dated.
