Description
The PSP-100 AC Adapter was the standard charger included with the first-generation PSP consoles. It features an input range of 100–240V AC, 50/60Hz, making it suitable for worldwide use with appropriate plug adapters. The output is DC 5V at 2.0A, ensuring fast and reliable charging for the PSP’s lithium-ion battery. The adapter consists of a compact power brick with a fixed 1.5 m cable terminating in the PSP’s proprietary barrel connector. A separate 1 m figure-8 wall cable is provided, which can be easily switched to the one of your local region.
While originally bundled with PSP-1000 units, it is fully compatible with PSP-2000 and PSP-3000 models, making it a versatile accessory for collectors and retro gamers. A later variation, model PSP-380, reduced the output to 1.5A reflecting the reduced power needs of the later PSP model. A full charge typically takes about two hours, and the adapter can power the console while playing.
Although the PSP-100 AC Adapter was the intended charging option, at 5V input it is extremely easy to replace with a USB cable. Even around the PSP launch third party USB cables were manufactured and any modern USB port should provide the 10W that the PSP can use.
