WonderSwan (Skeleton Green)

ワンダースワン (スケルトングリーン)

A Japan-exclusive handheld featuring a transparent green shell, dual-orientation gameplay, and exceptional battery life. One of seven launch colours.

Description

The WonderSwan was Bandai’s entry into the handheld gaming market, designed by Gunpei Yokoi, the legendary creator of the Game Boy. Compact and lightweight, it stood out for its ability to be played in both horizontal and vertical orientations, offering developers creative freedom and players a unique experience. The Skeleton Green edition has translucent casing that reveals the system’s inner circuitry. This design not only gave it a futuristic aesthetic but also made it a favorite among collectors who value its rarity and visual appeal.

Powered by a single AA battery, the WonderSwan could deliver up to 30–40 hours of gameplay, extremely impressive compared to its competitors at the time. Its crisp monochrome LCD screen, intuitive button layout, and affordable price point helped it carve out a niche in the Japanese market, even against Nintendo’s dominance.

Hardware model SW-001, this variation is SWJ-77701G.
