Tom Nook (Animal Crossing Series)
たぬきち(どうぶつの森シリーズ)A release in the Animal Crossing amiibo line, representing the franchise’s most recognisable shopkeeper, bundled with Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival, and remembered as one of the earliest Animal Crossing NPCs to receive a figure.
Description
The Tom Nook amiibo depicts the tanuki who runs the town shop and later the real estate business in the Animal Crossing series. This figure was bundled with Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival on Wii U in certain regions, alongside Isabelle (Winter Outfit), making it one of the more widely distributed Animal Crossing amiibo. It is amiibo figure No. 40 overall, and one of several Animal Crossing NPCs immortalised in figure form.
The amiibo provides exclusive features in the following titles:
- Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival (Wii U) – Allows Tom Nook to be used as a playable board game character
- Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (3DS) – Summons Tom Nook to appear in the player’s office, adding dialogue and decorative options.
- Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo (3DS) – Summons Tom Nook via the RV campsite, offering themed furniture items.
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Switch) – Functions as a standard amiibo, granting Animal Crossing series bonuses and spirit support.
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch) – Unlocks a Mii racing suit themed after Tom Nook.
- Super Mario Odyssey (Switch) – Via Uncle amiibo, helps locate Power Moons.
The figure is a central piece of the Animal Crossing amiibo line, reflecting Tom Nook’s role as the series’ most prominent NPC. Its bundled release ensured wide availability, and its compatibility across multiple titles underscores Nintendo’s strategy of using amiibo to extend the presence of iconic characters beyond their home series.
