64 de Hakken!! Tamagotchi: Minna de Tamagotchi World

64ではっけん!!たまごっち みんなでたまごっちワールド

A party‑style board game where up to four players raise Tamagotchi as they move around a virtual board, featuring dozens of possible Tamagotchi evolutions, and introduces unique characters not seen in the handheld toys.

Description

Tamagotchi: Minna de Tamagotchi World was the first Bandai title on the Nintendo 64 and the only Tamagotchi game for the system. The game plays like a hybrid of a digital pet simulator and a board game, predating the style later popularised by Mario Party. Players take turns rolling dice to move their Tamagotchi around a large board. Each space triggers events such as feeding, training, or random encounters. Between turns, Tamagotchi must be fed, cleaned, and disciplined, echoing the mechanics of the handheld toys. Mini‑games appear throughout, testing reflexes and strategy, and the winner gains advantages for their Tamagotchi’s growth.

The goal is to raise your Tamagotchi from an egg to adulthood before your rivals. Depending on how well you care for it, your Tamagotchi can evolve into one of 59 possible characters, including some exclusive to this game. The winning player’s Tamagotchi evolves into a special form only available in Minna de Tamagotchi World. The game also introduces Tsukuzuku Tamagotchi, a unique variant created for the Nintendo 64. Saving progress requires a Controller Pak, and the game supports both single‑player (with CPU opponents) and four‑player local multiplayer. Reception was modest but positive in Japan, with praise for its colourful presentation and family‑friendly design.
