The World Ends with You: Final Remix is the Switch port of Square Enix’s acclaimed DS action RPG. It brings the original 2007 Shibuya‑set story to HD with re‑drawn artwork, re‑arranged music, and new control schemes adapted for the Switch’s hardware. The game follows Neku Sakuraba, a withdrawn teenager who wakes up in Tokyo’s Shibuya district and finds himself trapped in the Reapers’ Game, a week‑long contest where the dead must complete missions to win back their lives. Partnered with characters like Shiki, Joshua, and Beat, Neku must battle “Noise” monsters using a system of collectible pins that grant psychic powers.

On Switch, combat was re‑designed to work either with touch controls (in handheld mode, similar to the DS stylus) or with motion controls (using a Joy‑Con pointer in docked mode). The port also introduced a local co‑op mode, letting a second player control Neku’s partner in battle. Exclusive to Final Remix is the “A New Day” scenario, an epilogue chapter that expands the story beyond the DS and mobile versions, featuring tougher enemies and foreshadowing the sequel NEO: The World Ends with You (2021).
