GamePad AC Adapter
ゲームパッドACアダプターA charger for the GamePad, separate from the Wii U console charger. At 5 volts, it is very easily replaced by a USB cable.
Bundled in Set
Description
The Wii U GamePad AC Adapter was Nintendo’s official power supply designed specifically for the Wii U GamePad. It provided a 5 volt DC output to charge and power the GamePad’s built‑in lithium‑ion battery either connected directly or docked by the GamePad Cradle.
The adapter consisted of a small grey rectangular brick with a permanently attached cable ending in the proprietary Wii U GamePad charging plug. On the other side was a standard AC wall plug for household outlets based on the region of sale. The unit was compact and lightweight, making it easy to keep near the console or carry as a spare. It was bundled both in console sets or sold separately.
The adapter was essential because the Wii U GamePad had relatively short battery life compared to standard controllers. However, since it is a low amperage, 5 volt DC supply, the power requirements can be easily be provided over USB, with an adaptor for the proprietary connector. Consequently there are aftermarket GamePad USB Charging Cables that make this AC adapter effectively redundant.
