PlayStation Move Motion Controller Twin Pack

A bundle of two Motion Controllers (CECH-ZCM1E), 2x Wrist Straps, and 2x USB Charging Cables. Notably this PS4 branded package still included the PS3 revision controllers.

Description

The PlayStation Move Motion Controller Twin Pack was marketed as the PlayStation 4‑era revision of Sony’s motion controller, rebranded to align with PlayStation VR and PS4 packaging. On the PS3, the PlayStation Move would often match one motion controller with the Wii Nunchuk-like Navigation Controller. On PlayStation 4 the former were re-utilised in the PSVR games, co-ordinating with the PS4 camera, however two were required.

On the surface, the CECH‑ZCM2E designation suggested a new hardware iteration, distinct from the earlier CECH‑ZCM1E units released for PlayStation 3 in 2010. However, many early PS4‑branded sets actually contained controllers internally marked as CECH‑ZCM1E, meaning the hardware itself was unchanged. The difference lay in the packaging and product code rather than the electronics. Functionally, both revisions were identical — same sensors, same button layout, same Mini‑B USB charging port, and the same rechargeable battery. The only omission across both was rumble feedback, a deliberate choice to conserve battery life.

This detail is important because one might assume that purchasing a CECH‑ZCM2E set guaranteed the newer revision inside. In reality, the CECH‑ZCM2E was often just a rebranded continuation of CECH‑ZCM1E stock, likely representing an early PS4‑era bundle before Sony finalised a proper hardware refresh. For collectors and archivists, it highlights how Sony extended the Move ecosystem across generations without redesigning the controller, relying instead on packaging updates to signal compatibility with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR.
