PlayStation Move Navigation Controller

プレイステーションムーヴ ナビゲーションコントローラ

A controller that provides analogue movement and navigation support. It is functional but limited part of the PlayStation Move system.

Description

The PlayStation Move Navigation Controller is a one‑handed peripheral released alongside Sony’s PlayStation Move system in 2010. Designed to complement the motion‑sensing Move Controller, it provides traditional input for movement and menu navigation. The device resembles a pared‑down gamepad: it includes an analogue stick, a D‑pad, and a handful of face and shoulder buttons, but omits the motion sensors and glowing orb of the main Move unit. It closely resembles the Wii’s Numchuk in form and function.
When paired with the Move Controller in the opposite hand, the Navigation Controller allows players to move characters or navigate environments while the Move handles aiming, gestures, or other motion‑based actions. This combination was intended to replicate the dual‑stick control of a standard gamepad, but split across two devices to enable motion play without sacrificing analogue precision.
It has some utility in certain titles, particularly shooters and adventure games, though relatively few games required or fully supported it. As a result, the Navigation Controller became a niche accessory, remembered more for its role in Sony’s broader motion‑control experiment than for widespread adoption.
