Famicom / NES
The Family Computer (Famicom) is a third generation home video game console developed by Nintendo, released in Japan in 1983. Its international counterpart, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), launched in North America and other regions beginning in 1985. It competed with the Sega’s SG-1000 and Mark III in Japan and the Sega Master System internationally. The Famicom/NES was the predecessor to the Super Famicom/Super NES.
