Video Game Collection
A third generation home video game console developed by Sega. Originally released in Japan as the Sega Mark III in 1985, it was later redesigned and launched internationally as the Master System beginning in 1986. The console featured enhanced graphics and audio over its predecessor and used cartridge and card-based media. It competed directly with the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) but saw greater success in regions such as Europe, Brazil, and Australia. The Master System was the successor to the SG-1000 and SC-3000.
