Final Fantasy XV (Day One Edition)

ファイナルファンタジーXV (初回特典)

An open‑world action RPG, the fifteenth mainline entry in the Final Fantasy series, and the first to adopt a fully real‑time combat system.

Description

Final Fantasy XV is set in the world of Eos and follows Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum and his three closest friends: Gladiolus, Ignis, and Prompto on a journey to reclaim his throne after the Niflheim Empire seizes his homeland and the magical Crystal it protects. What begins as a diplomatic trip turns into a sprawling quest across deserts, forests, and cities, blending road‑trip camaraderie with a larger destiny: Noctis’s role as the “True King” fated to save the world from eternal darkness.

The game’s first half offers a free‑roaming structure with exploration by car, chocobo, or on foot, side quests, hunts, and mini‑games, while the latter half becomes more linear and story‑driven. Combat uses the Active X Battle system, allowing quick weapon switching, warp‑strikes, magic crafting, and team techniques, with later updates adding the ability to control all four party members.

The Day One Edition was aimed at early buyers and included exclusive digital bonuses not available in the standard release after launch. Chief among these was the Masamune (FFXV), a powerful sword inspired by the series’ iconic weapon, which could be equipped from the start to give players a combat advantage. Some regions and retailers also bundled extra perks, such as special skins for the Regalia car or bonus quests.

The game had a decade long development period, evolving from the cancelled Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Upon release addition content was planned and released. A subsequent Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition is the definitive 2018 re‑release of the game, bundling the base game with all major post‑launch content and adding new features, areas, and quality‑of‑life improvements.
