Tower of Guns (Limited Edition)

A roguelike first person shooter built around rapid movement, procedural arenas, and exaggerated weapon modifiers. Frames short, replayable runs as a rich in gameplay over story telling. Steel case version, missing outer cover.

Description

Tower of Guns presents compact ascents through randomly arranged rooms filled with turrets, drones, traps, and screen‑filling projectile patterns. Each run begins with a gun and a perk, then evolves through tokens that level weapon power and modifiers that transform behaviour, such as turning shotguns into rocket launchers or adding ricochet, sticky, and multi‑shot effects. Mobility defines survival, with circle strafing, air control, and jump height expansions interacting with environmental hazards like crushers and spike floors. Boss encounters punctuate floors with unique bullet patterns, while secrets, side rooms, and micro‑challenges seed variety across short sessions designed to resolve within one to two hours.

Stories attach as lightweight vignettes at the start of a run and function as tonal framing rather than plot, cycling from military briefings to absurd digressions without affecting mechanics. Progression persists through unlocks of guns and perks, encouraging experimentation with combinations and difficulty settings that raise enemy density and projectile complexity. Visual design prioritises readability in chaos, pairing stark geometry with clear projectile signalling to support reactive play.

Tower of Guns was an indie experiment that fuses roguelike structure with old school shooter fundamentals. Reception praised the game’s speed, unpredictability, and inventive modifiers, and criticised uneven console performance and occasional repetition across room sets. Reviewers highlighted the lunch‑break structure as a strength for an approachable roguelike pacing.
