Eagle Flight
A VR experience game where, as the name might suggest, you take flight as an eagle.
Description
Eagle Flight was Ubisoft Montreal’s first foray into virtual reality that sees you piloting an eagle through a lush Paris, fifty years after humanity’s extinction. Rather than traditional flight simulators, it streams forward continuously, letting you bank and dive simply by tilting your head while using a controller to adjust speed.
The game punishes missteps with visceral aerial collisions rather than nausea, thanks to ‘NASA-inspired FOV limits’. It supports six-player competitive “Feathers of War” capture-the-flag mode and cooperative Free Flight sandbox turned a simple soaring sim into a social VR staple. Compartitively, the solo missions felt thin and the city’s reused landmarks can grow repetitive.
Looking back, Eagle Flight stands as a proof-of-concept for VR movement mechanics and multiplayer ambition, delivering an surprisingly comfortable, serene high-flying experience that still invites you to experience gliding over virtual rooftops.
