NTSC

The NTSC region in gaming refers territories e.g. North America, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines and select Pacific island nationsโ€”that adopted the National Television System Committee (NTSC) analog video standard. NTSC games are designed to output at 60 Hz (two interlaced fields per frame, 30 FPS) in standard-definition 480i/480p and typically employ region-lockout, preventing them from running natively on other hardware without mods or adapters. In the HD-era, this conception and distinction is not relevant or applicable.
