Description

The Wolf Link amiibo was first revealed during a Nintendo Direct in November 2015 and released in March 2016, bundled with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD for Wii U and later sold separately. Sculpted with Link in his twilight beast form and Midna riding on his back, the figure captures a pivotal transformation from Twilight Princess, where Link navigates both Hyrule and the shadowy Twilight Realm.

In Twilight Princess HD, scanning the amiibo unlocks the Cave of Shadows, a combat-focused bonus dungeon. The amiibo records Link’s remaining hearts upon completion, which can then be transferred to Breath of the Wild, where Wolf Link appears as an AI-controlled companion. His health in Breath of the Wild corresponds to the number of hearts saved from the Cave of Shadows, making performance in the earlier game directly affect his strength in the later one.

Beyond Twilight Princess, the amiibo offers cross-game functionality:

• In Super Mario Maker, it unlocks a Wolf Link costume
• In Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo, it invites Wolf Link to the campsite and unlocks themed furniture
• In Hyrule Warriors, it grants Midna a random weapon once per day
• In Tears of the Kingdom, it can yield meat or the Mirror of Twilight paraglider fabric
