DVD Player Version 2.10 deploys a critical system utility for the original Fat PlayStation 2 consoles i.e. the SCPH-30004 series. Its primary purpose was to provide the necessary drivers for the official Sony DVD Remote Control (Model SCPH-10172). For early adopters, this disc transformed the console from a dedicated gaming machine into a more sophisticated home cinema component by allowing the infrared receiver to communicate with the system’s hardware, unlocking features that were previously inaccessible via a standard DualShock 2 controller.

Beyond simple remote compatibility, the Version 2.10 software introduced a suite of advanced playback features that significantly improved the user experience.
