Sony’s official Bluetooth media remote, built to give PlayStation 3 owners precise, couch‑friendly control over Blu‑ray movies, DVDs, streaming apps, and system menus without using a gamepad.
Description
Released alongside PS3, the BD Remote Control connects via Bluetooth rather than infrared, allowing for lag‑free, line‑of‑sight‑free operation anywhere in the room. Its layout mirrors that of a high‑end home‑theatre remote, with dedicated buttons for play, pause, fast‑forward, rewind, chapter skip, and menu navigation, plus number keys and quick‑access controls for audio, subtitles, and display options. Because it pairs directly with the console, it can also navigate the PS3’s XrossMediaBar (XMB) interface, control Blu-ray video and music playback, and operate streaming services.
Pairing is done through the PS3’s Accessory Settings menu, and only one BD Remote can be registered at a time. Powered by standard AA batteries, the remote was a popular accessory for turning the PS3 into a living‑room media hub, offering a more natural, cinema‑style experience than using a DualShock controller.
