Everybody’s Golf

みんなのGOLFゴルフポータブル

A portable sports game built around lighthearted competition, short play sessions, and a steady rhythm of character progression. A launch title for the PSP that brings the popular golf series to a handheld format.

Description

Everybody’s Golf (Minna no Gorufu Pōtaburu/Everybody’s Golf Portable in Japan) presents a bright and approachable take on golf in which players select from a cast of stylised characters and work through a set of fictional courses. The tone focuses on relaxed play and clear feedback, with each shot framed by simple timing inputs and readable course layouts. Its structure follows the broader series tradition of mixing friendly presentation with a steady challenge curve making it quite consistent with the  earlier home console entries.

The game uses an arcade‑style three‑click swing system that determines power and accuracy, with wind, lie, and club choice affecting each shot. Players unlock new characters, outfits, and equipment by completing tournaments in Challenge Mode, while Training Mode offers controlled practice on specific shots. Match play introduces head‑to‑head rounds against CPU opponents, and Ad Hoc wireless play supports local multiplayer for up to eight participants. The six courses include new layouts alongside familiar themes from the series, and the character customisation system expands as more items are earned. These features place it alongside other portable sports titles of its period, while its structure and tone remain consistent with the wider Everybody’s Golf catalogue.

Launching alongside the console itself, the game was praised for its accessible mechanics, the variety of courses, and the suitability of the format for handheld play. It was one of the PSP’s most reliable early titles, providing a known experience in a new form factor.
