Dolby Atmos

Dolby Atmos is a proprietary object-based surround sound format that introduces a height channel to traditional home theatre configurations. Introduced to gaming primarily in the eighth generation via the Xbox One, Atmos transmits spatial metadata rather than fixed channels. The hardware dynamically calculates the trajectory of sound objects, panning audio seamlessly across overhead speakers or virtualising it through headphones.
