Zelda no Densetsu: Kamigami no Triforce & Yotsu no Tsurugi (The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past & Four Swords) is an action-adventure compilation developed by Nintendo in collaboration with Capcom’s Flagship studio. It serves as a dual-offering that pairs a refined port of the 1991 Super Famicom classic with a brand-new multiplayer experience. It was the first time the series integrated cooperative multiplayer as a core component.

The experience contains two distinct adventures accessible from the main menu. Kamigami no Triforce follows the legendary journey of Link as he travels between the Light and Dark Worlds to rescue the seven sages and defeat the wizard Agahnim. In contrast, Yotsu no Tsurugi is a multiplayer-only quest where two to four players, each assuming the role of a differently coloured Link, must coordinate their abilities to solve environmental puzzles and collect Rupees while navigating randomly generated dungeons. The atmosphere is quintessential Zelda, blending high-fantasy exploration with a vibrant, updated pixel-art aesthetic.

The compilation features several functional updates and interconnectivity between the two titles. In the single-player quest, the games includes a brightened colour palette to compensate for the original GBA’s lack of a backlight, along with new voice clips for Link and specific gameplay tweaks such as the ability to dive in water. A significant addition is the Palace of the Four Sword, a secret high-difficulty dungeon that only becomes available in after you successfully complete the Yotsu no Tsurugi quest. The multiplayer component requires the use of Game Boy Advance Link Cables, where players must both cooperate to overcome obstacles and compete for the highest wealth by the end of each stage.

At the time of its release, Kamigami no Triforce & Yotsu no Tsurugi was praised for the technical polish of the port and the innovation of its multiplayer mechanics. Eastern and Western reviewers highlighted the game as an essential purchase for the GBA, noting that the cooperative play provided a fresh way to experience the franchise. The success of Yotsu no Tsurugi saw the concept expanded on the GameCube in Zelda no Densetsu: Yottsu no Tsurugi+. Retrospectively a notable entry in the Zelda series when it transitioned from a strictly solo endeavour into a social gaming experience.
