PlayStation 4 Pro

プレイステーション4 Pro

A mid‑generation upgrade to the original PS4 with a more powerful GPU and slightly faster CPU, supporting 4K resolution output (predominantly via checkerboard rendering), improved frame rates, and HDR visuals. Retains full compatibility with all existing PS4 games and accessories.

Description

I replaced my original PlayStation 4 Pro with this second‑generation revision (CUH‑7002B). It’s a 1 TB model in the “Jet Black” finish, still powered by a custom single‑chip AMD x86‑64 “Jaguar” CPU with eight cores and an upgraded 4.20 TFLOP AMD Radeon‑based GPU for enhanced graphics. Compared to the standard PS4, it delivers higher resolutions (up to native 2160p in supported titles), improved texture detail, sharper shadows, and HDR output over HDMI 2.0.

Physically, it retains the PS4 Pro’s three‑tier design but with minor internal changes for efficiency and acoustics. It was less power hungry and much quieter. Connectivity includes USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and an AUX port for accessories like the PlayStation Camera. The CUH‑7002B ships with a matching DualShock 4 controller, HDMI cable, power cord, USB charge cable, and mono headset.

This revision was part of Sony’s ongoing quiet hardware updates — the CUH‑7000 series being the launch Pro, the CUH‑7100 series refining cooling and noise, and the CUH‑7200 series making further PSU and fan tweaks.
