Ryōri no Tetsujin: Kitchen Stadium Tour is a multimedia title based on the hugely popular Japanese television show Ryōri no Tetsujin (Iron Chef). It is not a game, rather an interactive companion disc or database, featuring a digital recreation of the show’s famous Kitchen Stadium and surrounding program lore.

Its main attraction is the ability to walk around a 3D-rendered Kitchen Stadium and browse a range of Iron Chef-related material hidden behind portraits, props, and menu points. The software includes chef and challenger profiles, bits of backstage trivia, show clips, “famous battle” highlight movies, memorable scenes, information on ingredients and cooking tools, and even restaurant data connected to the featured personalities. It also contains a 50-question multiple-choice quiz, framed as a kind of “gourmet academy graduation exam,” which tests the player’s knowledge of the show and its surrounding trivia. The software treats the TV program itself as the content to explore, rather than giving the player active culinary mechanics to master.

Japanese commentary appreciated it as a novelty piece for fans of the show, but criticised the awkward movement, frequent disc access, light content volume, and the fact that the quickest way to use it is often to bypass the free-walk exploration entirely via menus. Retrospectively, it might easy to write off as a quirky mid-1990s example of TV-entertainment software on Saturn, but it also reflects the era’s experimental design where “non-game” properties such as magazines and future online shopping were seen as possible directions for game consoles.
