Stereo AV Cable
ステレオAVケーブルSega’s official composite video lead for the Dreamcast, providing standard‑definition picture and stereo sound for TVs without advanced inputs.
Description
The Dreamcast Stereo AV Cable was an official accessory designed to connect the Sega Dreamcast to a television via composite video (yellow RCA) and stereo audio (red/white RCA). It was the most basic, widely compatible connection option, ensuring the console could be used with virtually any TV of the era, including older CRTs without S‑Video or RGB inputs.
Physically, the cable featured the proprietary Dreamcast A/V connector on one end and three color‑coded RCA plugs on the other. While it lacked the sharper image quality of S‑Video, RGB SCART, or the Dreamcast VGA Box, it offered plug‑and‑play simplicity and full stereo output, making it the default choice for casual players and those without higher‑end displays. These were the default cable included in the console, which represented the strong shift away from RF modulated input that had been the prevalent default over many generations.
