PocketStation Hand Strap

ポケットステーション ハンドストラップ

An official wrist strap accessory for the Sony Pocketstation. This one was sold separately at retail.

Description

The PocketStation Hand Strap is a simple molded strap and loop accessory designed to attach to the PocketStation’s case, allowing users to secure the device around their wrist for portable use and to reduce the risk of drops. It typically consists of a short fabric or rubberised strap with a small plastic clip or rivet that fits through the PocketStation’s case lug, providing a lightweight, inexpensive way to make the tiny memory‑device easier to carry and handle during transit or play.

Developed as a practical companion item for the PocketStation’s role as a portable memory‑and‑minigame device, the strap emphasised convenience and protection. It was included with most PocketStations, however Sony did also sell them separately at retail. I had both. Separately, Sony also produced a “Long Strap”, which was and a lanyard equivalent to hang around one’s neck. Shortly after the PocketStation launch these were also made available for individual purchase. Commercially it was a simple cheap accessory but super useful for owners and was on trend for the era.
