PlayStation VR2 Sense Controller (L)

プレイステーションVR2 Sense コントローラー(L)

A motion controller designed as the dedicated input system for Sony’s second‑generation VR headset.

Description

The PlayStation VR2 Sense Controllers represent a major departure from the reliance on older peripherals like the PlayStation Move, introducing a control scheme purpose‑built for modern VR. Each controller features an orb‑shaped design that wraps around the player’s hands, allowing for natural grip and freedom of movement. They incorporate the same adaptive triggers and haptic feedback found in the DualSense controller, meaning resistance and vibration can simulate tension, such as drawing a bowstring or feeling the recoil of a weapon. In addition, the controllers include finger‑touch detection sensors, enabling more precise hand gestures and interactions within VR environments.

Tracking is handled by the inside‑out cameras on the PSVR2 Headset, eliminating the need for external sensors. This allows the controllers to be mapped seamlessly in 3D space, supporting full 360‑degree movement. Each unit has an analog stick, action buttons, and system buttons, ensuring they can function both as immersive VR tools and as conventional game controllers when needed. The controllers charge over USB-C, and there is a charging dock for convenience sold separately.

Reception has been positive, with critics noting that the Sense Controllers finally bring PlayStation’s VR ecosystem in line with the standards set by high‑end PC VR systems, while adding Sony’s signature haptic innovations. They are considered essential to the PSVR2 experience, as most titles are designed around their unique input features rather than legacy controllers. The units were initially only bundled with the PlayStation VR2, but were later sold independent of the headset, with the charging dock, through Apple for use with the Apple Vision Pro headset.
