A re-re-release of the last main entry into the popular racing series.
Description
The final entry in the Project Gotham Racing series, PGR4 expands the franchise’s signature blend of speed and style with over 130 vehicles, including motorcycles for the first time. It presents tracks spanning cities like Shanghai, St. Petersburg, and Quebec City. Its hallmark Kudos system, stemming from the original Dreamcast MSR title, rewards driving style.
A new dynamic weather engine shifts conditions mid-race, from sun to rain to snow, affecting both visuals and handling. The expanded career mode offers a calendar-based progression with championships, invitational events, and garage showrooms, while multiplayer introduces modes like Bulldog and supports both cars and bikes on the same track.
The game continued with its mix of arcade accessibility and technical mastery. Although I was a large fan of the original MSR and early PGR titles, by the time this released I had moved on a bit. The racing genre had also evolved over the decade. In subsequent years the Forza Horizon series is probably the closest in mood, albeit in a more whimsical presentation.
