LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham sees Batman go beyond the streets of Gotham into an interstellar adventure. When the villainous Brainiac uses the power of the Lantern Rings to shrink entire worlds for his twisted collection, Batman must join forces not only with the Justice League but also with some of DC’s most notorious villains to save Earth and the galaxy. Batman and a wide cast of DC characters leave Gotham City and travel through space to stop Brainiac, who shrinks and collects worlds across the DC universe. The story moves between planets, space stations, and stylised recreations of familiar locations, using short scenes and comic dialogue to link each mission. Its tone remains playful, with returning characters from earlier LEGO Batman titles appearing alongside new heroes and villains drawn from wider DC stories.

The game uses the established LEGO structure of combat, platforming, and environmental puzzles, with players switching between characters to use specific abilities such as flight, hacking, stealth, or gadget construction. Batman and Robin gain multiple suit variants that provide functions like illumination, demolition, or magnetic manipulation, while other characters offer powers such as heat vision, telekinesis, or shrinking.
