Description

Dungeon Siege III saw the series move away from developer Gas Powered Games to Obsidian Entertainment under the reins of series creator Chris Taylor as an adviser. The game blends classic hack‑and‑slash dungeon crawling with modern action‑RPG mechanics, presented from a dynamic isometric perspective.

The story unfolds in the high‑fantasy kingdom of Ehb, where the once‑mighty 10th Legion — guardians of peace for centuries — has been nearly annihilated. Decades earlier, charismatic rebel leader Jeyne Kassynder rallied the people against the Legion, blaming them for the king’s death. Now, with the realm divided and the queen’s forces weakened, the few surviving Legion descendants are called upon to reunite their order and confront Kassynder’s forces.

Players choose one of four unique heroes, each with distinct combat styles, abilities, and branching skill trees: Lucas Montbarron, a sword‑and‑shield melee specialist; Anjali, an elemental archon who can fight in human or fire form; Katarina, a ranged gunner with magic‑infused bullets; and Reinhart Manx, a mage wielding arcane constructs and time manipulation. Combat is real‑time and fluid, with the ability to swap between two stances per character for different tactical options. Gear — weapons, armour, and accessories — can be customised to enhance stats and abilities. Dialogue choices and quest decisions influence relationships with companions and can alter the game’s ending.

The game supports local or online multiplayer for up to two players on consoles. In single‑player, one AI companion accompanies you at a time, and you can switch them out between missions.

While praised for its visuals, character models, and responsive combat, Dungeon Siege III drew mixed reactions for its streamlined RPG systems compared to earlier entries, as well as limitations in its multiplayer loot sharing.
