Game Cartridge
A Game Boy pachinko adventure starring Pachio-kun, Coconuts Japan’s long-running pachinko mascot, with the player travelling through themed areas and clearing pachinko parlours rather than simply playing a single standalone machine.
Description
GB Pachio-kun is more story-driven than a plain pachinko simulator. Pachio-kun is sent from Pachinko Planet to rescue Princess Ginko, who has been kidnapped by Barbell III, the ruler of Animeland. This gives the game a light adventure structure: the player moves Pachio-kun around maps, enters shops or towers, talks to characters, checks machines, and plays pachinko to earn enough balls to progress.
The pachinko sections focus on familiar machine-control basics: adjusting launch strength, firing balls, watching their path through the pins, checking the machine name, viewing the pins with a magnifier, and using items from the sub-menu. The player can also check the number of balls needed to clear the current shop, current ball count, and held items, making progress more goal-based than just endless free play.
Compared to another curious Coconuts pachinko adventure, Onigashima Pachinko Ten, this is less of a folktale parody and more a direct mascot-series entry. It sits within the broader Pachio-kun line that began on Famicom and continued across several systems, with Game Boy follow-ups including Pachio-kun Castle, Pachio-kun 2, Pachio-kun 3, and Pachio-kun Game Gallery.
