The LE‑003 lens is the protective plastic faceplate that sits above the Game Boy Color’s LCD, featuring the printed Game Boy Color logo at the bottom. The part was injection‑moulded to match the original factory component and included pre‑applied adhesive for straightforward installation. Packaging varied but typically consisted of a small blister pack or cardboard‑backed plastic wrap, clearly marked with the SKU and Nintendo branding. Unlike most Nintendo service parts, which were available only through authorised repair centres, the LE‑003 was packaged for direct retail sale, complete with barcode and SKU identification.

This replacement lens was identical to the one fitted at the factory, ensuring full authenticity in colour tone, logo placement, and fit. It was sold as a standalone accessory for consumers who wanted to restore the appearance of their handheld without sending it in for service. While later aftermarket glass replacements have become popular among restorers, the LE‑003 remains the only official retail replacement lens for the Game Boy Color.
