A 3D platform adventure that drew on a long‑running manga and anime to tell a fairy‑tale quest about shattered stones and a stolen pouch.
Description
Doraemon: Nobita to Mittsu no Seireiseki (Nobita and the Three Fairy Spirit Stones) placed Doraemon, Nobita, and their friends in a fantasy world where three magical stones had been broken, unleashing an evil force. The story begins when a princess from the sky world seeks Doraemon’s four‑dimensional pouch, only for it to be stolen by a bat‑like servant of the Devil. The group follows her into the Fairy World, where they must recover the scattered stones across themed realms of earth, sea, and sky. Each realm contained multiple stages, culminating in a castle where a king could restore a fragment of the stone.
Gameplay followed the template of contemporary 3D platformers such as Super Mario 64, but provided players able to switch between multiple characters, each with unique abilities: Nobita with his slingshot, Shizuka with her high jump, Gian with strength, Suneo with boxing skills, and Doraemon himself with gadget‑based upgrades. The game mixed standard platforming with set‑piece stages, like riding a dragon, racing underwater, or flying with a propeller hat. Voice clips from the anime cast were included, adding to its authenticity for fans.
The title was part of a wave of licensed 3D platformers in the mid‑1990s, standing alongside other anime tie‑ins like Goemon’s N64 outings or Bandai’s Dragon Ball games. It later received two direct sequels on the same platform, cementing it as a small trilogy within the Doraemon game lineage. It had a modest reception for its faithful characters but criticism for its derivative mechanics.
