Leg Strap

Description

The Leg Strap is a stretchable band that goes around a leg with a pouch to hold a Joy-Con (L). The strap is adjustable, made of elastic fabric with Velcro fastening, and designed to fit a wide range of leg sizes comfortably.

It first appeared bundled with Ring Fit Adventure (2019), where the left Joy‑Con sits inside the strap to measure running, squatting, and other lower‑body exercises via the controller’s accelerometer and gyroscope; the right Joy-Con was used simultaneously in the Ring-Con. Nintendo later reused the Leg Strap accessory in Nintendo Switch Sports (2022). In that game, the Leg Strap allows players to physically kick during Soccer Shoot‑Out mode, with updates expanding its use to full soccer matches.

This simple approach successfully adapted the Joy-Con into a body motion sensor with surprising levels of accuracy.
