The 2018 PS4/Vita/PC version of Secret of Mana reimagines the vibrant, sprite‑based world of the original with fully polygonal environments and characters, while retaining the core story of Randi, Primm, and Popoi’s quest to restore the power of Mana and save their world.

The remake preserves the series’ signature real‑time, ring‑menu combat system, but updates it with free‑movement in all directions, modernised controls, and optional voice acting. Players can still swap between the three heroes at will, with AI controlling the others, and the game supports local co‑op for up to three players just like the original.

Beyond the visual overhaul, it features a newly arranged soundtrack alongside the classic score, animated event scenes to flesh out key story moments, and quality‑of‑life tweaks such as autosave and improved interface navigation. While the remake’s art style and voice work divided some, it is ultimately an interpretation of the original’s aesthetic and offers an accessible experience to one of the most iconic action RPGs of the 16‑bit era.
