Commodore Amiga Mouse
A two-button mechanical mouse designed as the standard pointing device for the Amiga computer range.
Description
The Commodore Amiga Mouse uses an opto-mechanical ball mechanism to provide proportional cursor control through the Amiga’s mouse port. Externally, it features a large angular case that later became known among enthusiasts as the “Tank Mouse.” Although similar in appearance to Commodore’s earlier 1350 and 1351 mice for the Commodore 64, the 1352 was designed specifically for the Amiga platform.
Bundled with systems such as the Amiga 500 and Amiga 2000, the mouse was integral to navigating AmigaOS, which made extensive use of graphical user interface elements including windows, menus, icons, and multitasking workspaces. It was also widely used with creative software such as Deluxe Paint and with games that supported mouse input. At release, the Amiga Mouse provided accurate and responsive control suited to both productivity and entertainment applications. Retrospectively, it remains one of the most recognisable peripherals of the Amiga line, remembered for its distinctive design, durability, and close association with the platform’s graphical operating environment.
