The Fractured But Whole is the direct sequel to 2014’s South Park: The Stick of Truth, which was also included in this physical release. Picking up the very next day after Stick of Truth, the kids of South Park abandon their fantasy role-play and dive into a new superhero saga, splitting into rival factions: Cartman’s “Coon and Friends” versus the “Freedom Pals.” What begins as a petty dispute over who gets to launch the most profitable superhero movie franchise quickly escalates into a full-blown conflict involving corrupt cops, crime families, and genetically engineered threats.

The game retains the look and feel of the TV series, presented in a 2.5D style that makes it feel like you’re playing through an episode. Gameplay shifts from the turn-based JRPG parody of Stick of Truth to a tactical grid-based combat system, where positioning, area-of-effect attacks, and team composition matter. Players can choose from a wide range of superhero archetypes each with unique powers, and combine them with the New Kid’s infamous fart-based abilities for both combat and puzzle-solving.

The game is unapologetically crude, satirical, and self-aware, lampooning superhero culture, Hollywood franchises, and social issues with the same biting humour as the show.
