Life is Strange: Before the Storm (Limited Edition)
A collectible physical release of the emotional, choice-driven prequel to the original Life is Strange, offering bonus content, exclusive features, and behind-the-scenes extras.
Description
Life is Strange: Before the Storm acts as prequel to Life is Strange, set three years prior to the events with Max Caulfield. The game follows 16 year old Chloe Price as she forms an unexpected and transformative friendship with Rachel Amber, a popular and seemingly perfect girl whose life is upended by a devastating family secret. Rachel was referred to in the first game but this Before the Storm brings her to life alongside adding depth and a history to Chloe’s character. Like the original, players navigate a branching narrative shaped by their decisions, with multiple endings and the unique “Backtalk” mechanic that lets Chloe influence situations.
The game was initially launched in an episodic structure through digital store fronts. The Limited Edition physical release includes the complete three-episode season, the bonus episode Farewell, plus a Mixtape Mode to create custom playlists from the game’s acclaimed licensed soundtrack, and an Outfit Pack with three alternate looks for Chloe. Beyond the in-game content, the Limited Edition also comes with a physical art book featuring concept art from the game and the full licensed soundtrack on CD.
The bonus episode Farewell ties the series full circle, going back to when Max Caulfield and Chloe Price were younger friends, before Max leaves. It completes the history of Max and Chloe’s journey. The name is as much referring to Max leaving Chloe, as it is an emotional fan service saying goodbye to players. Its ending is shocking yet completely expected, beautifully lulling you back into innocence before reminding you of the story that lay ahead, already told.
Although it could not entirely replicate the success of the original, the Life is Strange: Before the Storm was appreciated by most fans, continuing the characters’ stories and retaining the emotionally engaging storytelling the series was loved for. It helped continue the series’ momentum and kept fans hoping for a return of the characters in a future title.
