Description

The Xbox 360 Wireless Turntable Controller is a specialised peripheral created for use with DJ Hero and DJ Hero 2. It resembles a compact turntable deck mounted on a plastic base, with three coloured buttons on the platter, a crossfader switch, an effects dial, and a “Euphoria” button. The platter itself rotates freely, allowing players to tap, hold, and scratch notes in time with the on‑screen prompts. The crossfader is used to switch between tracks, while the dial adjusts effects during gameplay.

The controller connects to the Xbox 360 via USB wireless receiver, and it can be configured for either right‑handed or left‑handed play by repositioning the turntable section. It was bundled with the game at launch, and additional standalone units were sold separately. The build quality is plastic but sturdy enough for repeated use, with the platter designed to mimic the feel of vinyl scratching within the limits of a game accessory.

At release the turntable was praised for its novelty and for capturing the feel of DJ performance in a simplified form. Although it was less intuitive than guitar controllers from Guitar Hero for lay users, it offered a fresh way to interact with rhythm games. In retrospective, the DJ Hero Wireless Turntable Controller is as a distinctive but short‑lived experiment in the rhythm game boom, standing out for its unique design and the ambitious soundtracks it supported.
