Released alongside the original Xbox 360 models, the 64MB Memory Unit offered eight times the capacity of the launch-day 8MB version, making it a practical upgrade for more saves and small downloads. It plugged directly into the console’s memory card slot, required no setup, and could be easily be transported. In theory you could take profiles and game saves to friends’ consoles or public kiosks, enabling quick access to their progress anywhere.

Its initial usefulness quickly dwindled as this came during a generation which pivoted heavily toward online services including cloud sync, making portable physical media redundant. While its capacity was modest by modern standards, at the time it was a convenient, affordable way to expand storage before larger options or purely online became the norm.
