Description
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens retells the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens while also including exclusive side missions that bridge the gap between Return of the Jedi and Episode VII. These additional stories were created in collaboration with Lucasfilm, expanding the canon with playful but officially sanctioned material.
It builds on the established LEGO formula of cooperative play, puzzle‑solving, and combat, but introduces several new systems. Blaster Battles add cover‑based shooting sequences, while Multi‑Builds allow players to construct multiple objects from the same pile of bricks, adding variety and choice to puzzle solutions. Flight sequences also feature prominently, letting players pilot ships like the Millennium Falcon in cinematic dogfights.
The game blends the drama of the film with LEGO’s trademark humour, parodying key scenes while still following the narrative arc of Rey, Finn, Poe, and Han Solo as they confront the First Order. The inclusion of bridging missions such as Han and Chewbacca capturing Rathtars, provides continuity and fan service, situating the game as both adaptation and expansion.
Reception was positive, with praise for the new mechanics, the faithful recreation of film moments, and the charm of LEGO humour. Although the formula was familiar, the innovations kept the experience fresh. It remains one of the most celebrated LEGO titles, remembered for its blend of cinematic spectacle and playful reinterpretation. It is a LEGO adaptation that embodies humour and expansion, remembered for introducing new mechanics while retelling and extending the story of The Force Awakens.
