The fourth instalment of the popular open‑world FPS set in a exotic environments, blending exploration with guerrilla combat and emergent encounters, where player choice shapes the struggle against tyranny and the balance between tradition and rebellion.

Description

Far Cry 4 is set in a fictional Himalayan region called Kyrat, torn apart by civil war. The protagonist Ajay Ghale returns to his homeland to scatter his mother’s ashes and quickly gets caught in a violent power struggle between a tyrannical ruler and a rebel uprising.

Like prior Far Cry titles, you can approach missions with guns blazing, sneak through enemy territory using stealth, or use the environment and wildlife to your advantage. Exploration remains a foundation to the game as you climb mountains, fly in gyrocopters, and ride elephants into battle.

Although at this stage the game has become quite formulaic, this is not inherently a problem. Like many commodity products, for all the criticism laid upon Ubisoft there is also a largest market segment that wants a predictable and enjoyable experience. The game makes small improvements, particularly as the title was no longer held back by supporting prior, now geriatric, console generations. The world is vast, dangerous, and full of encounters, offering a mix of story missions, side quests, and free-roaming chaos.
