Forza Horizon 2 (Ten Year Anniversary Edition)

An open-world racing game, re-released as part of Microsoft’s celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Forza franchise. The base game (originally launched in 2014) is bundled with exclusive download content to mark the milestone.

Description

Forza Horizon 2 (Ten Year Anniversary Edition) extends the full Forza Horizon 2 experience. It is the second entry in the Horizon sub‑series of Forza Motorsport and builds on the festival concept introduced in the first game. Set across southern France and northern Italy, with its open‑world driving, dynamic weather, and hundreds of cars. This edition added a curated set of extras. Most notably, it featured ten specially selected cars, each chosen to represent highlights from the series’ history. These vehicles were tuned and liveried to commemorate the anniversary, giving players a celebratory garage right from the start.

The game spans a large portion of southern France and northern Italy, with players free to explore countryside, coastal roads, vineyards, and cities. The game emphasises freedom — you can drive anywhere across the landscape, not just on marked roads, with dynamic weather and a full day–night cycle adding variety to races and exploration. The car roster includes over 200 vehicles, ranging from classic sports cars to modern supercars and off‑road machines. Each can be customised and tuned, and the physics model balances realism with accessibility, making it approachable for casual players while still satisfying enthusiasts.

Gameplay events are structured around the Horizon Festival, a fictional celebration of car culture. Players progress by entering championships, showcase events, and special challenges, while also discovering hidden barns containing rare vehicles. Online play is integrated seamlessly, allowing friends to join the same world for cooperative or competitive racing.

Forza Horizon 2 was praised for its expansive world, variety of cars, and the sense of freedom it offered compared to more traditional track‑based racing games. It established the formula that later Horizon titles would refine, blending open‑world exploration with festival‑style racing. The Anniversary Edition added commemorative vehicles and served as a bridge between Horizon 2 and the then‑upcoming Forza Horizon 3.
