Official 16 MB flash storage accessory that holds up to 251 save blocks, designed for storing game progress, settings, and other in‑game data, and transferring between consoles.
Description
The Memory Card 251 offered a far more practical solution for GameCube owners with multiple titles where the earlier Memory Card 59 quickly proved restrictive. Its expanded capacity meant that entire libraries of save files could be managed without constant juggling or deletion, making it the standard choice for players who invested heavily in the system.
Unlike the Memory Card 59, the 251 was rarely bundled with software, instead sold as a standalone accessory for those who needed more space. By alleviating the limitations of the 59, it became the most common upgrade path, bridging the gap until the even larger 64 MB Memory Card 1019 was introduced later in the console’s life.
