Description
This is the original GameCube exclusive version. A later ‘Plus’ version, with additional features, was released on GameCube alongside PS2, Xbox, and Windows. For the first time since Sonic Jam, Sega released a compilation of early Sonic games. This time it provided a wide collection with plenty of extras for a modern console, including:
- Sonic the Hedgehog (1991)
- Flicky (1991)
- Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992)
- Sonic Spinball (1993)
- Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine (1993)
- Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (1994)
- Sonic & Knuckles (1994), including the Lock-On titles:
- Blue Sphere
- Knuckles in Sonic 2
- Sonic 3 & Knuckles
- Comix Zone (1995)
- Ristar (1995)
- The Ooze (1995)
- Sonic 3D Blast a.k.a Sonic 3D: Flickies’ Island (1996)
Games ran on an inbuilt software emulator developed by Sonic Team. Half the titles were ‘unlockable’ through playing the game. The Ooze and Comix Zone were absent from the international release of the game. The title also features a number of images and videos reflecting upon the prior 12 years of the Sonic franchise.
