The Nintendo Switch 2 Camera Set provides a dedicated camera accessory in lieu a built-in on the console itself. Designed to facilitate video communication and mixed-media gameplay, it features a sturdy aluminium base with a rubberised grip that extends into a roughly five-inch stem. The camera housing can tilt approximately 30 degrees vertically for easy framing adjustments. To ensure user privacy, a built-in shutter is seamlessly integrated into the hardware, allowing players to block the sensor by simply twisting a physical ring located around the lens.

The set includes a USB-C to USB-C cable that plugs directly into the top of the Switch 2 console, allowing the camera to functional across docked, tabletop, and handheld modes. It outputs at a standard 1080p resolution and features an ultra-wide 110-degree field of view. While this wide angle can create a slight fisheye effect when used up close, it is specifically optimised for living room environments to capture large groups of players simultaneously. Additionally, the camera boasts a highly sensitive image sensor with strong low-light performance, though its raw colour grading has been noted to lean slightly washed out or green compared to premium PC webcams.

On the software side, the camera integrates natively with the platform’s GameChat application. The hardware utilises smart imaging features to detect faces, automatically adjust focus, and cleanly crop out the user’s background or body. This functionality allows players to superimpose their faces into floating picture-in-picture bubbles during online multiplayer sessions, enhancing social integration directly into the gaming experience.
