Joy-Con Grip
A frame for using the Joy-Con controllers like a traditional gamepad. Bundled with the Switch console.
Description
The Joy‑Con Grip is the accessory bundled with the Nintendo Switch that allows the two detachable Joy‑Con controllers to be slotted into a central frame, forming a more traditional gamepad shape. It does not add extra functionality. There is no charging capability in the bundled, standard version, but it provides a more comfortable way to hold the Joy‑Cons together for longer play sessions.
Nintendo also released the Joy‑Con Charging Grip, which looks similar but includes a USB‑C port so the Joy‑Cons can recharge while attached. Both grips are designed to mimic the feel of a conventional controller, though many players eventually opt for the Pro Controller for extended use.
The Joy‑Con Grip symbolised the Nintendo Switch’s hybrid approach: Joy‑Cons can be used separately, attached to the console, or combined in the grip to suit different play styles.
