Description

Ring Fit Adventure is an exercising action RPG. It comes bundled with two unique accessories: the Ring‑Con, a flexible Pilates‑style ring into which one Joy‑Con is slotted, and a Leg Strap, which holds the other Joy‑Con. These peripherals transform physical movement into in‑game actions, making the player’s body the controller.

The main mode is structured like a role‑playing adventure. You play as a young athlete who teams up with a sentient ring to defeat Dragaux, a bodybuilding dragon. Progress through the world is achieved by jogging in place to move along paths, squeezing the Ring‑Con to fire projectiles or jump, and performing exercises to overcome obstacles. When enemies appear, battles unfold in a turn‑based system where attacks are executed by completing fitness moves such as squats, overhead presses, yoga poses, or abdominal twists. Each exercise belongs to a category: arms, legs, abs, or yoga,  and enemies have vulnerabilities that encourage a varied workout.

Beyond the adventure, the game includes guided fitness routines, quick‑play mini‑games, and custom workout sets, allowing it to function both as a structured RPG and as a flexible exercise tool. Its design reflects Nintendo’s “quality of life” philosophy, following in the footsteps of Wii Fit but with a more gamified, narrative‑driven approach.

The game was a critical and commercial success, praised for making workouts engaging and accessible. By March 2023 it had sold over 15 million copies worldwide, placing it among the Switch’s best‑selling titles.
