Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

すすめ! キノピオたいちょう

A puzzle‑platformer that is an expanded port of the original Wii U title from 2014, featuring Captain Toad and Toadette navigating diorama‑like stages to collect stars and treasures.

Description

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker presents compact, cube‑shaped levels designed as interactive dioramas. Players guide Captain Toad or Toadette through puzzles that require rotating the camera, manipulating platforms, and avoiding enemies, all while constrained by the characters’ inability to jump. This limitation forces creative use of ladders, elevators, and environmental tricks to reach objectives.

The Switch version introduces new content and refinements. Levels inspired by Super Mario Odyssey including stages based on the Sand Kingdom, Cascade Kingdom, Metro Kingdom, and Luncheon Kingdom are added, which ties-in with a series crossover with Captain Toad appearing in each Odyssey world. Cooperative play is a major gameplay mechanic, although changed from the Wii U GamePad’s asymmetric gameplay.  The Switch version allows a second player to assist with controls such as throwing turnips or interacting with the environment on the same screen. Well executed for parents to play with young child.

Visually, the game retains its bright, toy‑like aesthetic, with each stage resembling a miniature world filled with hidden coins, gems, and secrets. The design encourages replay, as players revisit levels to uncover all collectibles and complete optional challenges. Despite the childlike appearance, the game is quite addicting with inventive level design, charming presentation, and portability on Switch. The game has received downloadable content, adding further stages and challenges.
